Problem: A celebrity news website was growing and hiring new writers on a regular basis. Because all writers have to follow a specific process for writing and publishing their works, the website’s team needed a quick guide that new writers could refer to as they familiarize themselves with the job.

Research:

  • I interviewed an experience writer of the site to understand their whole process from beginning to end.

  • Based on the information, I categorized their process into four steps (brainstorming, introducing, writing, and publishing).

  • I gathered that most writers will only use this job aid at the beginning of their job. After a few months, they will be able to follow this process from memory.

Design:

  • I designed the job aid using the website’s brand colors (purple and white).

  • Multiple revisions were given to our SME for feedback until the final product was agreed upon. Feedback mostly pertained to using the right terminology.
