Arizona Tax Credit

Educating donors on potential tax benefits

Organization: Entryway Arizona

Components: Website design, marketing materials

Background

During my time as an AmeriCorps VISTA, I worked with Entryway, an organization that connects those experiencing situational homelessness with jobs in the multifamily industry. We have an office located in and serves the Greater Phoenix area.

In Arizona, taxpayers can receive a tax credit when they donate to an eligible charitable organization. Entryway had received approval from the state of AZ to be one of these organizations, and it was time to market this. We wanted to encourage potential donors in AZ to be aware of this benefit. I was tasked with creating materials to help promote this.

Webpage

I created a page on Entryway’s website dedicated to educating donors about the tax credit. It included:

  • Photos of Entryway’s participants (provided by our Executive Director in AZ)

  • Explanations on the benefit

  • Donation form

  • FAQ section

  • Contact information

My main goal was to redesign and reorganize the homepage to better communicate The Donovan’s Venom’s main mission and make it easier for users to browse.

Design Inspiration

I browsed other nonprofit websites for inspiration in this redesign. There were some common techniques that I wanted to incorporate:

  • Action buttons at the top

  • Pictures of who the organization benefits

  • Statistics to communicate urgency

Shanti Bhavan had an action button and pictures of smiling students.

Malala Fund incorporated statistics to communicate their mission.
